| Akaroa, just south of Christchurch on the South Island has a lot of natural beauty and history. I think the first Europeans to settle there were French - thence the name. | In the centre of the North Island are many "hot springs". They are of volcanic origins and the colours are about as breathtaking as the sulphuric air! |

| Kaikoura on the east coast of the South Island is famous for whale sighting. There are many tours to watch whales during the season. Snow capped mountains bordering the tranquil Pacific is something to see. | In the heart of the thermal area is beautiful Lake Tarawera. A peaceful cruise is a must and gives you a chance to breath "fresh" air again. |

| Close to Milford Sound is Lake Te Anau. Most tourists to "fiordland" on the South Island stay here as a good starting point. | More of the beautiful Rororua thermal area. |

| Arriving by ferry from the North Island, you are greeted by the grandeur of Marlebrough Sound and the town of Picton | Everywhere you drive you see green, flower (or sheep) covered hills. |

| Wellington houses - it is very like San Francisco really | These are the Moeraki Boulders - perfectly rounded and lying peacefully on the beach. How they got there and got to be so round, nobody knows |
